About Us
Hello! Thank you for visiting CellarMade.com. I'm Jeff from Atlanta, GA and this is the story of Cellar Made.
It all started just after Christmas 2015. I had just received my first immersion circulator - the ANOVA - and was going for my first overnight sous vide cook. Somewhere around 2 AM my wife and I woke to the sound of an alarm we'd never heard before. With 2 kids under the age of 4 in the house to say we were panicked would be an understatement. We looked at each other and each said "What is THAT?!". I ventured down to the kitchen and realized immediately that it was the ANOVA screaming for help because all of the water had evaporated out of the pot! It was then I realized that you must wrap the top of the pot with cling wrap in order to prevent all the water from escaping.
Eventually, dealing with the cling wrap became a huge headache and I knew there had to be a better way and that's when Cellar Made was born. Our first product was an actual Rubbermaid lid that I cut by hand using an X-ACTO knife. After making a few hundred of these by hand I knew it was time to figure out how to make these lids on a much larger scale.
We partnered with an injection molding company located here in Georgia and they created this giant hunk of steel which is where all our lids now come from. Just a few years later and we now have several variations of this lid and are constantly working to add new products for Sous Vide lovers everywhere! I hope you enjoyed learning about how Cellar Made came to life. If you have any questions or feedback please reach out to me directly - I read all of the comments and emails that we receive and will do my best to help.
Yours,
Jeff Nichols
